St Benedict
& St James

Originally named for the patron saint of African-Americans, St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church was built and dedicated in 1911, and serves the entirely of the Lincolnville district. The first rector of St. Benedict was Father James B. Albert, SSJ, who was himself canonized in 1936, and whose work still bears fruit in San Augustin.

The Church of St. Benedict and St. James is an Anglican catholic community of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter; and provides outreach and resources to people and families of the San Augustin community.

The church offers evening services and a midnight mass, and remains staffed and open to the public around the clock.
