Nicolas Brennan
The Toreador Nic was born Nichola Brennan, but even as a little girl, he was always something of a tomboy - preferring skating and sports to dolls and tea parties. Nic's family was very wealthy, his father having made a fortune in the fashion industry while his mother was a museum curator. Nicolas discovered an talent for a variety of artistic disciplines and styles at an early age, and attended private art schools for most of his education.
When it came time for college, Nic continued studying art - with a focus in the restoration of damaged, old, and recovered works of art from throughout history. He also began socializing with a more accepting crowd and began presenting as a man, calling himself "Nicolas" or "Nic" (but never "Nicki"). By the time he earned he'd earned his degree he was living fully as a man, though he still sometimes wore dresses and makeup "to feel pretty", an dhe continued to wear his hair long.
In 2016, a very old painting was discovered in the basement of an abandoned German mansion and delivered to the museum where Nic was working.
While staying late one night, making repairs to the piece, Nic was visited by the artist - an 18th Century German Toreador called Hans Vogel. The two spent a number of nights in the museum together discussing history, Nic's profession and how it was done, art, and the painting in particular.
Before he was finished restoring the painting, however, he was embraced. Hans said that he loved the work Nic had done, but wanted some evidence of the time his first painting had spent locked away from history. Whatever the case, Hans took Nic under his wing, and trained him in the intricacies of kindred society, before releasing him to his own devices.
In these modern nights, Nic is more non-binary than he is man, though he still refers to himself in the masculine. His vampiric nature ensures he can never keep his hair short for long, and he has adopted a more fluid approach to fashion and lifestyle - constantly shifting gender, style, and sometimes personality to suit the needs of the night, the expectations of others, or his own whims.
