Donald McKay

DETECTIVE.pdf

Donald McKay comes from a family of police officers dating back to just after the civil war. He knew he wanted to be a cop before he knew what his favorite color was and once he graduated from the Academy, he rocketed up through the ranks, making Detective in record time.

The other thing Don has always been was a nightowl; and he was working third-shift homocide when he was bitten.

Don isn't sure about exactly what happened the night he was attacked. He only knows that he was jumped from behind and dragged into an alley where he imagines he was drained of blood. When he woke in that same alley he was not alone. There was a homeless man, handcuffed to a metal pipe beside him. Feeding on that man was how he discovered that he was a vampire.

With no knowledge of vampire lore, society, or politics, Don decided the only thing to do was to keep doing his job. On his nights off, he performed experiments on himself - testing himself and testing the folklore around vampires. He discovered that being a vampire made him a better cop, so he adapted and continued to work.

When he was discovered by the Sheriff, the two were both looking into a series of killings, and Don was shocked to learn not only that there were other vampires, but how many there were just in his city.

He was even more surprised to learn just how many wanted him destroyed just because his "Embrace" was here in the city, without the permission of some nancy vampire royalty.

He was allowed to live, however, and even allowed to continue doing his job, so long as he continued to uphold their masquerade (like he wanted to tell anyone he was a bloodsucking creature of the night).

Now he gets his job done, only sometimes, the vampires come to him for help...

Or hindrance.
