Black Books

Directly across from the San Agustin School for the Deaf & Blind, Black Books is an occult book shop and magic supply store, operated by a pair of old witches. Helen Myers and Arthur Crane. The shop is a nondescript store-front, indistinguishable from the surrounding shops except for the white, marble gargoyles which are perched on the roof and seem to watch the parking lot.

The book shop is a mix of actual occult lore and new age woo, organized in such a way that only those who truly understand the occult can tell the difference. A character attempting to research the occult while studying the books in Black Books, gains a bonus die to their Occult Roll, provided they already have at least one rank in the skill.

Black Books is owned by the Tremere and serves as the public front for the local Chantry, which is located beneath the shop - accessed through an outside stairwell on the side of the building (in between Black Books and DMC), or through a keyed Otis Elevator in the stockroom. Only the Tremere and their servants have access to the keys, and both entrances are heavily warded.
