San Augustin Amphitheatre
Seated in the central outskirts of the San Augustin State Park, the San Augustin Amphitheatre is the most popular concert venue in town, if not the largest (that would be the Francis Stadium). In the spring and summertime, the Amphitheatre also offers free movies on Thursday nights.
In addition to concerts and movies, the Amphitheatre hosts a number of plays, musicals, and operas and is a popular destination for touring companies seeking to make their mark in North Florida. Additionally, local acting troupes vie for a chance to put on the weekly Shakespeare in the Park - found at the sight of the original Amphitheatre, the much smaller, open-air Ash Rivers Memorial Stage - named for famed Hollywood actor Ash Williams, who lived in San Augustin for a few years and acted on the Memorial Stage before moving to Los Angeles and striking it big (and coming to such a tragic and violent end).
