Investigate the Coterie. - Desire

Reeve

Rodchester was a created gargoyle who was put down in 1492, during the Gargoyle revolt. He lay in torpor for over 400 years, finally awakened in 1999 just before the Week of Nightmares. He was asked, and agreed, to travel to the Americas and to watch over the Tremere in San Augustin, where he has worked as a willing Agent of the Chantry ever since. Rodchester's views on servitude - particularly service to the Tremere are the same as they were in the 15th century. He is more than happy to do the work, he just wants to be asked to do it, and to know he has the freedom to say "no".
Since the dissolution of the Pyramid, and the fracturing of Clan Tremere, Rodchester has become more of a coven-mate than a servant, and has proved himself capable and loyal on many occasions. The Sisters of the Rose and Cross look on him as an equal. These nights, when he isn't looking after the affairs of the Tremere, Rodchester spends his time flying over the city, inspecting anything that draws his attention. He is also a big fan of American Football, and the San Augustin Sharks in particular.
Rodchester is, by and large, the most jovial kindred in San Augustin. His is a life of repulsive loneliness, and he takes great pleasure in the company of other kindred - shunning the rest of mankind in order to preserve the Masquerade. While he is no doormat, Rodchester is easy-going and willing to please all whom he comes across. His smile is unnerving, ape-like; but there is a genuine kindness in his white-marble eyes that is disconcerting to some and disarming to others.

Rodchester speaks English, German, and Romanian.

Demesne

Rodchester lairs at the Tremere Chantry, where he is afforded an apartment ofhis own and permission to come and go as he pleases.

Allies

Though he is friendly with a number of Kindred, Rodchester is a solitary creature with no interest in making inroads into mortal affairs.

Enemies

Though he is in a position likely to inspire the ire of other kindred, Rodchester has - thus far - managed to avoid that fate.

Secrets

  • Rodchester spends a great deal of time flying around the city, and spying on its residence, taking particular interest in the activity of other kindred.

Stories

  • Awakening

    • The Coterie may want to accept the Gargoyle's offer of service - acting as messengers or enforcers so that he might remain out of sight. He can always task up an coming Thin-Bloods, or perhaps another Coterie, but he likes these (assuming he does).

  • The Thrill of the Hunt

    • The Coterie is tasked with finding a band of unannounced Kindred who have entered the city and are hunting on the Southside, while isolating themselves from the rest of San Augustin Kindred. The Barons need to know who these Kindred are and why they are in San Augustin.

  • Temptation

    • In celebration of the routing of the Sabbat, Rodchester would like to have a party thrown. This will also help better integrate him into Kindred society, but only the Toreador will be able to throw a proper soiree and Coterie is tasked with making it happen.

  • Deadly Force

    • A small contingent of Sabbat are apparently trying to recapture the glory days and get revenge for the deaths of their fellows. The Coterie is tasked with holding off the ravening horde while Rodchester rallies the others.

  • Enter MacBeth

    • In the chaos following the Sabbat incursion, the Coterie is needed to help Rodchester understand what (and who) remains. If the Barons have gone to ground and aren't destroyed, a moot must be called to reestablish order. The Thinbloods are revolting in light of this apparent weakness.

  • The Edge

    • Rodchester asks the Coterie to help him establish a new haven at Torrington Plaza, which will require some wheeling and dealing to acquire the right offices and suites.

  • Long Way to Morning

    • In light of recent violence and security left in place at Torrington Plaza, the Tower is raided by SI while the Coterie is present. The Coterie (and Rodchester - and the ghouls who already live there) must defend themselves and/or hide from the overwhelming forces sieging the tower.

  • Her Brother's Keeper

    • One of the ghouls (Monday) is grievously wounded, and Rodchester wants one of the Coterie to embrace her.

  • Reawakening

    • Rodchester has come up with a plan to remove the SI from the city indefinitely, and to help ensure outside Sects cannot cause further trouble in the future.
