Vesta

Ambition: Fall in Love

Desire: Collaborate with Emory on a new piece.

Baron of Vermont Heights

Veronica Stabley was studying at the New York Academy of Art duringh the turbulent 1990s, when - during the Battle of New York, she caught the eye of Qadir al-Asmai by taking up a sword to help defend a group of her fellow students. She could barely hold her own, but she'd grown up in a theater family with three brothers so she at least knew which end to stick in her enemies - a trio of Sabbat rabblerousers. She'd have died if Qadir hadn't stepped in, but he did. He also took an interest in the girl's studies and eventually took her into his service under the guise of teaching her to wield a sword. In 2006, he chose to embrace her rather than send her away.
Unfortunately, shortly after her embrace, she was in a terrible automobile accident, from which she walked away, but was witnessed doing so. The Inquisition Forces descended on her with a ferocity, and would have ended her if not for the intervention of her Sire; who then had her sent south to get away from persecution. She landed in San Augustin in 2008, and has set herself up quite nicely as a gallery owner and patron of the arts.
After the S.I. attacks in 2019, Vesta has remained in hiding, prefering anonymity to courting danger in these hazardous times.

Vesta speaks English, Spanish, and Hindi.

Demesne

Vesta owns a small house in Vermont Heights, which is secured to serve as her haven. She also has a back room in her gallery which can be locked from within and is sheltered from the sun, with a passage into the Sewers and the Underworld.

Allies

When Vesta left New York, her Sire also bid her take along a pair of Ghouls, Aaron and M., who look after her well-being and (likely) report back to New York.

Enemies

Aside from the interest of the S.I., Vesta is careful not to foster any enemies.

Secrets

  • Vesta's name is Veronica Stabely.

Stories

  • Girl With a Pearl Earring

    • Vesta encounters the Coterie while they're out doing something and her curiosity gets the better of her. She wants to make a move to return to Kindred society because the isolation of the last years has been maddening. Is she mad now?

  • Mona Lisa

    • Vesta's gallery has been taken over by the absolute worst fucking manager, who wouldn't know art if it shat on his face. She wants the Coterie to surreptitiously (and without destroying any actual Art) ruin the man's next showing so she can more easily move against him and reclaim what is hers. She offers a boon, maybe?

  • The Birth of Venus

    • Vesta is staging a "coming out" party of sorts and tasks the Coterie carry out her plans, and then - of course - attend as a pretense of ensuring nothing goes wrong. She wants back into the forefront of Kindred Society and she wants nothing to go wrong.

  • The Starry Night

    • While driving home, Vesta was in another terrible car wreck, and once again was witnessed escaping unharmed. She asks the Coterie to help her cover up her mistake, without killing anyone.

  • The Creation of Adam

    • A young man in the other car has caught Vesta's eye, and she wants the Coterie to help her find out everything she can about him. Does he have any artistic talent (sure)? What kind of man is he ? Does he like redheads? Is he super mad at her and if so, can she make it up to him?

  • The Night Watch

    • Vesta has organized her first big gallery show since coming back, but a rival (Andrew Chartwell) has promised to ruin her. She asks the Coterie to stay the weekend at the Gallery to guard her treasures. In return she promises to what.. (something the Coterie needs)?

  • The Kiss

    • Vesta has decided to embrace her young muse from The Creation of Adam. She does not trust herself with his tutelage, however, as she is too enamored of him. She asks the Coterie to take Adam under their wings, or she warns them away, I don't know - how have they behaved?

  • The Last Supper

    • Vesta and Adam have decided to return to New York, while he is young and can pursue a modeling career. She decides to throw a "dinner party" as a way of saying farewell, to transfer her belongings, and to thank (or chide) the Coterie in particular.
